In this issue there is a tribute on the restoration of the Holy icons with seven special presentations on the issue.

In the studies Georgios Theodoroudis examines the missionary work of John Chrysostom. The Ecumenical spirit of mission in the Church of Constantinople is expressed with the Christianisation of the Goths, Phoenicians and Arabs and the apostolic and evangelic zeal of the Holy Father.

            Ioannis Mountzouris analyzes and presents the historical List of Mytilene Bishops (325-1958) and draws up two charts: a) the historically witnessed archpriests and b) the non-classifiable.

Vasilios Stavridis offers a brief description of all churches and communities among the ancient eastern Churches and presents the relevant bibliography.

            Metropolitan of Sylibria Emilianos (Timiadis) presents an interesting study regarding the usage and finding of the appropriate words for the exact and accurate expression of the doctrines of the Ecumenical Councils and the Orthodox faith.

            Father Georgios Charamantas studies the life, personality and work of Metropolitan Chrysanthos, as well as his contribution to the Holy Diocese of Neurokopi (1885-1888) and Leros-Kalymnos (1888-1894).

In the Chronicles there is a presentation of the 10th General Assembly of CEC and then an extensive book presentation section of works of the period.

The issue also contains a tribute to Saint Photios comprising of four studies (pages 9-154).

K. Bosinis in his brief paper, in German, refers to the patristic view of theatre and other secular performances.

Theocharis Detorakis presents the personality of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew A’ on the occasion of being awarded an honorary doctorate by the Department of Philology, Philosophy School at the University of Crete (22.11.1992).

Ioannis Karavidopoulos sets out to examine the description of the Tranfiguration of Jesus on the Mount in the three synoptic evangelists and the apocryphal Apocalypse of Peter in an effort to comprehend the intents of apocryphal authors, in those cases in which they do not express some heretical movement.

Dimitra Koukoura conducts philological and stylistic research on the work “Schiagrafiai Didachon” (“Outline of Teachings”) by Vincent Damodos (1700-1752), manuscript 1196 of the National Library.

Father Gennadios Limouris examines, in French, the history of the Committee “Faith and Order” of the World Council of Churches (from 1948 onwards).

Father Salvatore Manna presents in English a history research about the co-existence of Latin and Eastern traditions in Southern Italy and particularly in the region of Puglia.

Nik. Moutsopoulos researches the architectural characteristics of the Holy Temple of Saint George, East of Meliti (Prefecture of Florina, Greece). The article is richly illustrated.

Father Konstantinos Papagiannis attempts to correct various philological and other types of errors in ecclesiastical hymns.

Miltiadis Polyviou presents an interesting piece of history research about the philanthropic work of Cesare Daponte (1713-1784) from Skopelos island, a Greek scholar of the 18th century, for the reconstruction of the main Church of the Xiropotamos Holy Monastery.

Horst Seidl studies in German the theological interpretation of the Triadic God in the work “De Trinitate” of Holy Augustine.

Vasilios Stavridis looks at the role of laity in the Orthodox ecclesiastical experience (church organisation, worship, family, charity, education). He includes large bibliography on the subject.

Vasiliki Frageskou writes the next text regarding the “Vespers Hymn” of Saint Gregory the Theologian.

Father  Georgios Charamantas presents us with the List of Lerni’s Bishops (Karpathos island) from 1756 to 1888.

Vasilios Pseutogas deals with the issue of the sources between the old and the new Martyrologies, the presence of various God theophanies, theopties, the ways of divine revelation, as well as the presuppositions for it.

Evaggelia A. Varella presents a short paper on Synesius of Ptolemy and his relationship with the craft of goldsmith. A similar paper by the author was published in “Kleronomia” issue 20 (1988).

Last follows an extensive bibliography of works of the period.

Athanassios Theocharis examines the meaning of divine grace in the work of Evangelist Luke.

F. Ioannidis analyzes the life and work of Saint Benedict, compared with the work of Saint Basil the Great on monasticism.

D. Kalomirakis presents the Protaton of Mount Athos (monument and patrons).

Archimandrite S. Koukiaris studies the place of the well-known Saint in the iconographic programme of the Byzantine temple. John Moutzouris, presents to us the Leioniaka of the years 1866 up to 1886.

Basil Stavridis describes the institution of offices or dignities of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and adds the relating Services, as well as relevant bibliography (Part B).

John Fountoulis studies the historical elements of the celebration of Apostle Paul.

E.A.Varella analyzes, in German, the work of Michael Psellos on Natural Sciences.

There is a lot of material from the activities of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Chronicles while the bibliographic bulletin includes many books of this period.

G. Vergiotis presents the pedagogical concepts of Klimis of Alexandria, the foremost Christian philosopher, in his work “Pedagogue”. Klimis passes from confession to a philosophical theory of Christianity. This work is practical, oriented towards practical life and moral education through which the soul sees the weaknesses of humans.

Ath. Theocharis investigates the philological problem of the epistle to Colossians (1: 15-20), a Christological text which he examines for its authenticity.

Ioannis Kalogirou studies the holy Sacrament of Marriage in relation to the number of the seven sacraments. It is a theological study of Marriage as incorporation of the new couple in the Eucharistic community, introducing the institution of marriage into the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

Georgios Mantzaridis explores an important issue of interpreting the ecological problem from an Orthodox point of view. The study is marked by three important points: a) selfless love, b) ascetic spirit and c) the Eucharistic view of the world.

His Eminence the Metropolitan of Ilioupolis Athanasios studies a liturgical text by the Ecumenical Patriarch Maximus E’ (1946-1948), written in 1961 and preserved by his student (current Metropolitan of Karpathos and Kasos Amvrosios).

Ioannis Fountoulis presents thoughts on the feast day of the divine Tranfiguration of the Lord with an emphasis on the figure of the Pantokrator Christ.

In the Chronicles there is a record of the visit of the Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of all England Dr. George Carrey and a record of the 7th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches (Canberra, Australia, 7-20.2.1991). In the end follows an extensive book presentation section, with books of the period.

This volume of Kleronomia includes 19 theological essays and a bibliographic bulletin.

This volume refers to the death of Patriarch Dimitrius A' (1991) and also to the election and enthronement of the present Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew A' (2.11.1991).

Savvas Agouridis makes a biblical and ecclesiological approach of “the word of God”, that is the way in which God relates to humanity. This relation is expressed by divine energies, which are interpreted by God’s words, not only explaining them to man, but also demanding him to respond.

George Antourakis studies the life, the work and the liturgical influence of the Three Hierarchs in the church tradition.

Dionysus Valakis presents the life and the work of the counter-Korais scholar Ignatius Skallioras from Rapsani, born in the end of the 18th century.

Chris Bantzos explores the basic aspects of Isaac the Syrian’s theology and his contribution in modern Pastoral Psychology.

Evangelia Varella examines the theological presuppositions and the practical applications of Natural Sciences (Alchemy, Astrology, Medicine), according to the scholars of Thessaloniki (11th -15th century).

Christodoulos Bilaras presents elements of the personal research ofCh.Kannengiesseron Athanasios the Great. In particular he presents the life and the theological contribution of Athanassios, emphasising the faith and the aim for which he fought.

Athanasios Kalamatas records old and rare printed documents and liturgical publications of the18th centuryfrom the library of Thessaloniki’s Theological Faculty.

George Mantzaridis studies the relation between secularization and Christianity. Secularization is a consequence of Christianity’s presence and challenges Christianity as a whole (doctrine, worship, ethos, collective spirit).

Nikolaos Matsoukas deals with the question of the two “creations” in the work of Gregory of Nyssa, meaning the creation of the historical human being, man and woman, and the creation of the ideal human being, which was the fulfilment of the entire humanity.

Metropolitan of Sweden Paul Menevisoglou studies the omissions in the publication of The Triodion (Leipzig, 1800).

George Metallinos researches the relation between Apostle Paul and the island of Cephalonia (Acts 27 and 28), according to the theory ofH.Warnecke.

Hubert Mullerpresents, in German, the theological differences between the West and the East concerning the canon law and the divine economy.

AntoinePapadopoulos develops in Italian the synodical institution, its charismatic and unifying character. The text was a lecture in Bari, Italy (17.12.1991).

Metropolitan of Elioupolis and Theia and Athanassios Papas studies the historical and theological explanation of old icons burning, on the Friday of the Holy Unction (at Phanari).

Basil Stavridis describes the institution of offices or dignities of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and adds the relevant Services and bibliography as well.

RobertTaftresearchesin a modern scientific way (use of personal computer) the “Anaphora” of John Chrysostom in his Holy Liturgy and concludes that it constitutes a later review of a non- saved Greek report of the Apostles.

Metropolitanof Sylivria Emilianosin his work, a lecture in Romania (21.10.1991), answers to the question for the necessity of a liturgical renewal. John Fountoulis studies the possibilities and the obstacles of a liturgical renewal as well. There is also a similar work regarding the Orthodox Church of Saint Thomas (India) by Shanti Verghese.

In the Chronicles there is the historical Message of the Orthodox Churches (Phanari, 13-15.3.1992) followed by a bibliographic bulletin which presents many books of this period.
