Kleronomia, Vol. 9, Issue A

Kleronomia, Vol. 9, Issue A, January1977, 222 pages.

This volume of Kleronomia includes 5 interesting essays, a bibliographic ulletin and the season’s Chronicles.

Stylianos Papadopoulos, continues his work on Philokalia (Klironomia 8, 1977) regarding theological gnosiology according to the Niptic Fathers. Based on God’s knowledge according to Niptic Fathers, who make a distinction between the inconceivable substance of God and the knowledge of His energies, there can be no connection to Western agnosticism. They, also, believe that the divine energies of God and the unparticipating of His divine substance are not a result of a theological reflection, but spiritual experience of the Revelation and the participation in the divine glory, which is not a substance but an uncreated energy of God.

John Fountoulis, studies a particular way of versification of Psalter (Holy Monastery Limonos and Ipsilon in Lesvos). The distribution of Psalter is done in twenty kathismata. Each one has three stasis. Sixty stasis in whole, which were made by having as criterion the length of psalms so that all the parts would be approximately equal.

Archimandrite Naykratios Tsoulkanais refers to the biographical presentation of the personality of Neophytos, Metropolitan of Arta and Naupactos. In this short note, the writer presents his relations with the School of Makarius Kalogeras, in Patmos. These relations show us his interest in education. The relevant correspondence is presented in the end of the article.

Anastasia Tourta, presents a double faced icon, which is located at the vestry of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Vlatades in Thessaloniki, together with a considerable number of other icons and heirlooms. At the top of this small icon we see Christ Pantokrator, with the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, who revere Him. In the bottom, we see Virgin Mary, with the Archangel Michael and John the Baptist. The painting dates back to the palaiologian art of the 14th century.

Michael Kordosis studies old texts in the library of the Monastery of Vlatades or Blataion. In the list are included all the unknown publications, which are described in detailed in the second part of the article (p. 157-167).

The bibliographic bulletin has many interesting seasonal books. The Chronicles present the relevant lectures and documents of the A’ Pre-Assembly Pan-Orthodox Conference (21-30.11.1976).
