Kleronomia, Vol. 14, Issue A

Kleronomia, Vol. 14, Issue A, January 1982, 208 pages.

This volume of Kleronomia includes 9 interesting essays and a bibliographic bulletin (review and books’ presentation).

D.Z Nikitas presents the influence of St. Augustin on the Eastern Church. After a historical retrospection, he presents to us all the translations of St Augustin’s work in two periods: The first up to the 13th century and the second from 1381 forward. In Greece his presence is less evident, which is explained either because of the ignorance of the Latin language, or due to the lack of Greek translations and the lack of interest as well.

James Steve Counelis focuses his attention on the understanding of man and the human’s nature, according to the orthodox Christian tradition. An interesting study, in English, also connected with the contemporary theories of biology.

Christos Economou presents in English the meaning of salvation in the letters of Apostle Paul. According to Apostle Paul the subject of salvation is not the soul but man as a whole. He also thinks that salvation is the “engagement of heritage” with an eschatological perspective.

Angelica Strati in her essay presents the fresco of the duplicate temple of Saint George and Saint Nikolaos in Lathrino of Naxos.

Gennadios Limouris presents and examines, in French, a manuscript of CodexScorialensis of the Royal Library of Madrid, on the subject “Sermon referring to the vision of Prophet Ezekiel ”of Nikolaos Kabasilas.

Christina Boulaki-Zisi presents the entire asmatic service of Saint John of Rilas (Bulgaria). The author of this service is Jacob Kofos the Neoascetiotis (Mount Athos) who has good relations with the Slav monks.

Metropolitan of Sweden Paul, records and divides the holy rules in: a) rules of Saint Apostles, b) rules of Ecumenical Synods, c) rules of Local Synods and d) rules of Holy Fathers.

Finally, monk Athanasios Gieftic, studies the subject “Methodology of Theology”, which was his lecture in the 2nd International Conference of Orthodox Theological Faculties (Saint Vladimir, New York, 12-18.1.1982).

IN the end we find a bibliographic bulletin with interesting seasonal books.
